Why is the top lagoon frequently closed even though the opening hours are 9.00AM to 5.45PM at weekends and 2.00PM to 5.45PM? How can regular swimmers find out if open or not without the inconvenience of driving down there?

I don't know. Basically asked the same question yesterday and last year approached council, but didn't receive a productive response. I approached council because on the Monday afternoon I went for a swim at 9am and the top pool was open, went down the following day and it wasn't. Was told it doesn't open until 3pm. Queried why on the previous day it was open but know one seemed to know the answer. Now this week was told it wouldn't be open at all from Mon through Thur. But you never know it could be, but feel the same as you, can't waste time driving there to find out. We need to do something about this, do you have any suggestions. Unfortunately I don't know enough people in Mackay to rally any support.
Can you take your dogs not to swim but just inside?

I seem to recall that there was a no pets allowed (unless companion / assistance dogs) Give the lagoon a ring and they will let you know Hope this helps
