On Tuesday at 6:26 a.m. an updated winter weather advisory was issued by the NWS Blacksburg VA. The advisory is for Ashe, Alleghany and Watauga counties.

By mid-afternoon Sunday, light snow was falling in North Carolina around Winston-Salem and Greensboro — with reports of flurries in Burlington. North Carolina Department of Transportation cameras showed snowfall in areas north of and in Winston-Salem and Greensboro.

The NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC issued a weather alert at 2:19 p.m. on Monday, warning residents of snow showers until 10:15 p.m. The alert is for Northern Jackson as well as Swain, Haywood, Buncombe and Graham counties.

Winter weather is arriving right on time for the month of January, but could we get snow next week in North Carolina and more so in the Piedmont Triad?

Storm Warning is in effect for Ashe, Avery, and Watauga counties through Monday afternoon and evening as sleet will likely transition into snow later today.

The NWS Blacksburg VA issued an updated winter storm warning at 3:46 a.m. on Monday. The warning is for Ashe, Alleghany and Watauga counties.

Accumulating snow and sleet is expected from the North Carolina mountains through Virginia Sunday and Monday. Significant icing may also occur in these areas through Sunday night, creating power outages.

On Sunday at 2:30 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 7 p.m. until Monday 7 p.m. for Higher Elevations of Indiana as well as Allegheny and Indiana counties.

An updated report from the NWS Blacksburg VA on Friday at 3:48 p.m. warns of heavy snow until 4:15 p.m. The alert is for Ashe, Alleghany, Surry and Wilkes counties.
