While people have been preparing their homes for the expected cold weather, TxDOT has been preparing roadways for drivers.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has pre-treated roads in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to prepare for possible freezing temperatures beginning late Tuesday night. Workers have deployed a brine application, focusing on bridges because they are most vulnerable to icing over.

Arctic air is heading towards the Metroplex and crews are working to pretreat the roads. The warning is in effect until Thursday at 9 p.m.
