Record-setting snow swept throughout states like Louisiana, Texas and Alabama on Tuesday, putting them out of commission through Wednesday.

An historic January storm dumped more deep snow along the U.S. Gulf Coast on Wednesday after bringing Houston and New Orleans to a near standstill over the past two days and burying parts of Florida's Panhandle with accumulations more typical of Chicago.

MIAMI - A major and historic winter storm slammed the Florida Panhandle on Tuesday with widespread record-breaking snowfall. The snow moved out of Louisiana where New Orleans broke their snowfall record of all time by several inches.

NEXT Weather meteorologist Shane Hinton said as the afternoon sun begins to melt the ice and snow, it will re-freeze overnight as temperatures plunge back into the teens.
