The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks denotes January as a time to recognize donors -- it's National Blood Donor Month.

The New York Blood Center says there's been an "alarmingly low donor turnout" since the holiday season, with approximately a 30% drop in donations in recent weeks.

January is National Blood Donor Month. LifeShare Blood Center encourages everyone to come out and donate blood. They say, 65% of the population are eligible to donate but only 3% does. The entire donation process takes less than 60 minutes including pre-screening interview.

Severe weather halted collections, leaving supplies very low. Donors, especially those with type O blood, are urged to step up now.
