Syria’s Damascus Airport have resumed international flight operations for the first time since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime

Flights resumed at Damascus International Airport on Tuesday after a month-long suspension following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government, bringing a sense of optimism for a brighter, more peaceful future for Syrian citizens.

The first international flight has landed in Syria since the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad last month. The flight from Qatar landed around 1pm at Damascus International Airport, according to AFP correspondents, the first from the Gulf state in 13 years.

The first international commercial flight since the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad landed at Damascus airport on Jan. 7.

A Qatar Airways plane became the first to land at Damascus airport since the ousting of the government of former President Bashar al-Assad last month, as Syria’s interim leaders hope to reassert a semblance of normalcy in the country.
