The Baltimore City Health Department declared its first Code Blue warning for the 2025 winter season on Friday. According to BCHD, temperatures are expected to fall to 13 degrees and remain in the teens, beginning on Sunday, December 14, through Monday, December 15. Residents are advised to take as many precautions as possible.

"There is a massive area of air in northwestern Canada where temperatures are 20 to 30 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, and it is on its way southeastward into the U.S.," AccuWeather chief on-air meteorologist Bernie Rayno said in a report. "This is the mother lode of cold air and is a term I don't use lightly."
“For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches, with localized amounts approaching 20 inches in the Island Ranges. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph,” the NWS said in a statement.
Health professionals are warning of the dangers of extreme cold temperatures and brutal wind chills this weekend, urging people to take precautions to avoid frostbite and hypothermia.
