Princess Anne completed her first royal tour of 2025 this week as she jetted off alone to South Africa. The Princess Royal, 74, visited for two days from January 21 to c arry out a series of engagements in the country.

Princess Anne was forced to undertake a royal tour of South Africa solo after her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, was injured at their home, Gatcombe Park. His injury comes seven months after the Princess Royal was hospitalized with a concussion following her own injury on the estate.

The Princess Royal offered sage advice to yachting hopefuls vying for a place in a prestigious transatlantic race – you will have to learn to live together. Anne, a keen sailor, chatted to the group of young women hoping to be picked for Royal Cape Yacht Club’s (RCYC) entry to Cape2Rio – which sets off later this year with vessels racing between the two famous cities.

Anne's international trip will also involve the unveiling of the Cape Town Labour Corps Memorial, which will "commemorate more than 1,700 predominantly Black South Africans who died in World War I between 3 and 14 August 1914 and who have no known gravesite," per Hello! magazine.

The Princess Royal donned her favourite sunglasses for the start of a two-day trip to South Africa where she admitted to owning more ponies than she should.She walked down a line of riders sat on their ponies handing out awards and chatting to the volunteers that accompany the children whenever they are in the saddle.
