Offering a unique focus on leadership and policy, the Yale Healthcare Leadership, Systems, and Policy Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is designed for mid-career nurses who wish to become innovative health care leaders.

YSN’s faculty have spawned new ideas that have shaped modern-day nursing: Annie Goodrich, YSN’s founding dean, stressed nursing as an ethical endeavor focused on promoting social change. Effie Taylor, YSN’s second dean, advanced mental health as the world’s first professor of psychiatric nursing.

Though smaller in size compared to our peer schools, Yale School of Nursing is mighty in breadth and scope. Since our founding a century ago, we have been at the forefront of innovative nursing care, nursing science, and the education of advanced practice registered nurses and midwives.

The GEPN program allows those with a non-nursing background to take advantage of a Yale nursing education to pursue a rewarding career in advanced practice nursing. This accelerated three-year program combines preparation in basic nursing with advanced training in a specialty that leads to a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
